If you have the power to control stuff, people or whatever, would you be grateful for your power, or would you abuse your privilege?

Two things happened this week that I would like to talk about. One to Doris and I personally, and the other to a famous person. Bill Belichick. Let's talk about him first.
Like many people, when the news of him not getting voted into the football Hall of Fame, I was shocked, just as many others were, because even if you don't like him, he does deserve to be in Canton. As he was also, like when he asked the rhetorical question to an associate, "Six Super Bowls wasn't enough".
A lot of people were outraged because apparently 10 or 11 out of 50 voters, voted against him. Was it "spy gate", "deflate gate" or just his lovely persona to the press. Turns out one writer/voter came up with an explanation that it was about the number of votes allotted in the final round. It appears when it comes down to picking a final three out of five, that he went with somebody that was on his last chance, while the GOAT, will be up again next year.
Funny thing about this article which I read on Thursday, is that on Wednesday, Gary Meyers, sports writer, had the same explanation. Although, he quickly pointed out he voted for Bill to get in.
So, in my eyes, in this case the power wasn't abused to beat on a guy that spent his coaching career beating others. It was to give another nominee, in this case a Senior, on his last opportunity to make the coveted HOF, get in.
Now to us. We were told, rules are rules and they cannot be broken, by a a person in charge of maintaining those rules. We are renting in a development in Naples, Florida again. This time we are in an area called East Naples. Which actually means we are very far away from places we normally frequented in the past. We now have to get the lay of land in Marco Island, which appears to very nice.
We started an online application process back in December and I say that, because we originally applied by hard copy in November, but it was rejected. We were informed it needed to completed 30 days prior to arrival, online, and the online app is through a third party.
We did what we thought was correct, hey we are Seniors, and I'm not looking to get into the HOF, just the pool. So, every morning, since the beginning of January, Doris and I would get a text message saying our application was pending. This went on until about January 11th or 12th. Now, keep in mind, we called this outsource company to see if they could tell us what was wrong. Basically, they said, "nothing's wrong, It's pending and you need to wait".
Then one morning, Doris sees a line that we needed to add the address, which is ridiculous, because the people at the complex knew where we would be staying. Then, almost immediately, we got the approval.
You are probably thinking, "if you could read, you wouldn't be having this issue". You'd be right, but hey, it was a oversight. I'm thinking, shouldn't somebody be saying, you need to look at the application again?
Then we noticed on our approval that it was starting on February 14th. But, look, the car is packed, it's cold and we just want to get there. I'm sure we can talk to them.
Boy, were we wrong. The power to be went as far telling us, we not only have to wait until the 14th, but since it's a Saturday and Monday is a holiday, we will have to wait until the 17th, until I can dip my toe in the pool or pump some iron in the gym.
Look, we're upset, and I wish they would reconsider, but right now I need to be like Rocky when he went to Russia to fight Drago. Exercise in nature!
In business for thirty some years, we also had rules. We were also aware that there needed to have some flexibility to rules.

Last week I saw on the news a report about luggage being stolen off the baggage carousels at airports. I often wonder why most airports did away with fencing that used to be around the carousels, which in order to get out of the fenced in area you had to match your baggage ticket stubs to the bag you are trying to roll out of the area. I sought of can't recall when all this changed?
The biggest location of this issue, appears to be the Denver International Airport, which was published in a November 10th, 2025 report by travel expert, Johnny Jet.
Apparently, it takes awhile to deplane and get down to baggage claim, which means by the time you arrive, your bags will be waiting for you. Now, this is a dream scenario to think that your bags will be there, instead of the dreaded wait for the carousel to kick on and the bags start rolling out of the chute. Usually, you are trying your best to make small talk with your chauffeur as you wait. And wait. Not in DIA.
It seems the majority of the thefts are from one guy. They have video of him, but they just can't nab him. Look online and Google DIA baggage thefts. His picture comes up. You mean to tell me no one knows this guy?
I remember, many years ago at EWR, and even with the fenced in carousels, there was a theft that was taking place right in front of my eyes.
I was waiting for a passenger to get his bags and myself and another chauffeur were just hanging outside the gate yapping away. Along side of us, there was a guy with a luggage cart loaded up high with stuff. No big deal!
Now, the airport was a happening place. People moving all over. Baggage handlers were all over the place, yapping away just like bored chauffeurs. Out of nowhere, one of the baggage guys tackles a dude just walking through the crowd. He gets the guy on the ground and his buddy calls the police.
Turns out, the tackled guy, snagged the briefcase off the top of the luggage cart from the guy standing right next to me. Frig, I never saw it happening. Not the porters, baby. This guy snuffed that theft out before it got ten feet away from the crime scene.
Best part of the whole thing, they laughed about the crime they just stopped and went back to gossiping like two little schoolgirls.
Supermen comes in all shapes and sizes and they don't just sell newspapers. They handle luggage also.
Congratulations Giants fans. Looks like we got our guy. Welcome to NY, (East Rutherford) John Harbaugh. Go Blue.
Be safe.

Below was my final email on Perfect Limo's email list. Hopefully, as I continue to write on this site, I have a chance to build my audience.
Thank you:
Hello. Happy New Year. Are you writing 2026 or are you still stuck with the 25 on your paperwork? Give it a month.
Not sure what the last email you received was about? I'm thinking it was two weeks ago, but I'm having problem finding it. I know it was on Facebook, so if you want to catch up, take a look.
We've had a long run together, but it is time to move on and away from this forum.
Just Another Story, is where you can find me. Follow the link under my name.
Presently, you can also find the stories on Perfect Limo Service Facebook page.
It's been fun. I love the responses and I hope it will continue on Just Another Story, see the link, page below.
I've always been told to keep repeating what you want people to remember. Like that stupid song that get's stuck in your brain.
So, Just Another Story is where you will be able to find me in the future.

"So this is Christmas, and what have you done, another year over, a new one just begun. And so this Xmas, I hope you have fun, the near and the dear one, the old and the young. A merry merry Christmas, and happy New Year, let's hope it's a good one, without any fear."
Yes, that was John Lennon's song from 1971, that I love listening to. For the words. I put it in a paragraph to save space.
First let me start with a Happy Hanukah to all who participate in this beautiful time.
Christmas is my favorite time of year. Traditions are big, but like most things in life, traditions change. Oh, we will try to keep them, but the old ones will be gone and new ones will appear.
My Dad putting up decorations and tree lights like he was late for work. Oh, I'm sure my children think I carried on that tradition. Keeping the secret of the real Santa Claus from our children for as long as we could. Drinking eggnog while decorating. Christmas Eve dinner with Doris' family then relaxing on Christmas Day at my brother Mark's home listening to train stories, but also enjoying those wonderful cookies his wife, better known as Aunt Sharon, made. That was the hook, which made the drive worthwhile. But, those cookie recipes, were also part of a tradition from my Mom. Probably from her Mom too.
Yes, there are plenty and I am sure you have your own.
Look, we should never forget the true meaning of Christmas and I'm not going to preach about it. But, oh boy, isn't it fun opening those gifts on Christmas morning.
So, you enjoy your holidays, whatever ones you celebrate and if for some reason I don't get to write anything in the next few weeks, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Talk to you in 26. (possibly sooner)
Be safe
