I'm sure you heard about the Spirit Airline flight that was shot at from people on the ground Monday, on it's approach into Port of Prince airport in Haiti. This must of been a very, very frightening experience!
Don't tell me though, for at least one second, when you heard this, you didn't think to yourself, "serpentine".
The In-Laws, 1979, with Peter Falk and Alan Arkin. "I have flames on my car".
Apparently, this was not the first time either. American Airlines and Jet Blue flights were also shot at in the past few weeks, but on take off from the same airport. "No pagaste tus impuestos" . For you Gringos, "you didn't pay your tax".
Now, the next two paragraphs are about stuff I believe to be true, but my wife cannot or maybe, will not, either confirm nor deny the stories. So here we go, I'm on my own.
Not sure if you remember back in the 1980's there was an airline called Capital Airlines, they flew routes along the US east coast to Puerto Rico, among other Latin islands. We had the pleasure of being on one of these flights and besides people, I distinctly remember there being animals on the plane, and I'm not talking about a service dog. Call me crazy, but I do remember a chicken on a flight from San Juan to New York! Those were the days my friend of open door cockpits.
Like the airline we were on going to the Dominican Republic once with our friends who were close to the owner, who happened to be on the same flight with us. People in the back of the plane all moved forward to any seat available when we were ready to land. Everyone was so happy and singing prayers and as soon as we landed, everyone cheered like we just performed an amazing feat. I think they believed being in the front, would get them to heaven before the people in the back of the plane if by some crazy reason the chickens crashed the plane!
On a real serious note, there was a insurance scam on the Belt Parkway, New York, when a guy and his passengers drove in front of another vehicle, slammed on the brakes then backed up into the vehicle behind them and then getting out holding their necks and heads. Luckily, or smartly, the victim of the scam had a video camera on his dashboard and caught this all on film. When the scammers saw the camera, they quickly got back in their car and drove off. Got you!
"Let's be careful out here." Sgt Phil Esterhaus, Hill Street Blues.
Then the ridiculous insurance scam, not sure what day, is when a guy dressed as a bear and broke into his own car and reported the damage to insurance. Somewhere during the investigation, the insurance people found the bear suit! Now, if you are going to do something this dumb, don't you think the bear costume should be hidden in a better spot!
Wednesday, November 13th, was World Kindness Day. This day was started in 1998 as a day for people to highlight good deeds in the community and a common thread of kindness. Were you good, Santa's coming to town soon!
Be safe.
